JOSHUA 9:19 A DEAL IS TRUCK BEFORE CONSULTING THE LORD

            This is something I find myself guilty of and that is being self-sufficient.  Even though they were not guilty of a sin in this matter, and they sealed this agreement in the name of the Lord, they did not consult Him or use the Urim and Thummin which would have given them the truth.  This was a decision made by Joshua and the princes of Israel, but it was more of a  political decision than a theological one.  The problem Christians face today more than ay ot5her time in history is making life decisions based on politics rather than the theology.  The Bible says in Proverbs chapter 3, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;

And lean not unto thine own understanding.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him,

And he shall direct thy paths.

            We can save ourselves from needless consternations when we consult God for big and small matters.
