This book is a repetition of the history and of the laws contained in the three previous books, which essentially is a repeat of what Moses delivered to Israel. There is no new history in it except for some history concerning the beginnings of a few nations and the death of Moses in the last chapter.  We will also note there are no new revelation to Moses. But the former laws are repeated and commented upon, explained and enlarged, The Greek interpreters call it Deuteronomy, which signifies the second law, or a second edition of the law, not with amendments, because none was needed, but with additions, for the further direction of the people in miscellaneous cases not mentioned before.  Since the men who first received the Law died in the wilderness, it had to be repeated for the benefit of the new generation.  In other words, more detail and clarity of the Law is given to the generation that was about to enter the Promised Land.  God wanted to make sure when Israel entered the Promised Land, they did not to leave their religion behind.
