NUMBERS 13:28 THE REPORT MADE FROM FEAR

28Nevertheless, the people who live in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large; and moreover, we saw the descendants of Anak there.

The Anakim were said to be people of very large stature and purported to be the sons of the Nephilim.  This reminds me of what Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, “10For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.”

Proverbs 26:13 also came to mind which says, “13The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! A lion is in the open square!”  What are they complaining about?  They verified what God said was there, but they complained about the size and strength of the people in the land they were to conquer.  The finest food Egypt offers is scraps; compared to the food of Heaven, which is Christ, the Bread of Life. Since they were not willing to take possession of the land of plenty, they will elect to starve and die in the desert wishing for the food scraps of Egypt.  God provides the food, but He isn’t going to pick it, peel it, cook it and serve it to you. We have to work to get the food and prepare it for ourselves if we are going to eat.
