Two things are true about students in many Urban American Public Schools. There are some students who do well and go on in life to become productive citizens while there is a secondary population of students who go on to lead lives that aren’t “socially acceptable”. Particularly, in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, this secondary population of students, some 18%, exhibit a number of behavioral issues and face extrication. It’s no wonder, why these students struggle to succeed academically and later in society. If they can’t follow the simple rules of order, how are they expected to be focused enough to learn? DOCKERY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (DCA) is a private non-denominational Christian school model whose primary focus is engaging parents as partners with administrators and teachers in order to develop, pro-social character for students as a precursor to learning.
Join TALK-STRAIGHT host, Rev. Dr. Rueben Dockery as he formally introduces his innovative school model to help address this specific population of students.
