Homo Erectus European men nomad; work the church Inquisition terrorists, make A.D. fake law of Earth, out of specious "In The Year of Our Lord." They are planning a sodomy colonialization on Mars and its Moonlets. They are fighting an uncivilized uphill battle trying to get there.
When President Reagan, in a televised address in March 1983, suprised the American people, the world's nations (and, it later became known, most top officials of his own administration) with his Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)--the concept of a protective shield in space against missiles and spaceships--it was natural to assume that its sole purpose was to attain military superiority over the Soviets Union. That was the Soviet reaction, and it was vehement. When Mikhail gorb followed Konstantin Cherennenko as Soviet leader in 1985, he ahered to the position that any improvement in East-West relations depend first and foremost on the abandonment of SDI. But, as it now seems clear, before the year was out, a new mood began to take hold as the true reason for SDI were communicated to the Soviet leader. Antagonism was replaced by an attitude of "Let's Talk"; and the talk was to be about cooperation in space and, more specically, about going together to Mars. *Observing that the Soviets suddenly "shed their habit. . . of being obsessively secretive about their space program," the Economist (June 15, 1985) remarked that recentlySoviet scientist had been astonishing Western scientists by their openness, "talking frankly and enthusiastically about their plans." The weekly noted that the prime subject was the mission to Mars. The marked change was even more puzzling, since in 1983 and 1984 the Soviet Union appeared to be moving fast ahead of the United States in spacea achievements.
