Is it a fact the first well-known literate civilization in Europe was that of the Minoans. The Minoan civilization was a Bronze Age civilization that arose on the island of Crete and flourished from approximately the 27th century B.C. to the 15th century B.C.

Early Minoan - The civilization was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century through the work of British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans. The name "Minoan" derives from history of King Minos and was coined by Evans, In Greek mythology, Minos was the first King of Crete, son of Zeus and Europa
