Mesilim, a king of Kish who had reigned circa 2850 B.C. Kish, it will be recalled,  was where Ninurta had established for the Sumerians the institution of Kingship. For a long time the rulers of Lagash were considered just viceroys, who had to earn the title "king of Kish" in order to be full fledged sovereigns.
