You believe in God, believe also in me.--It is more natural to take both these clauses as imperative--  Believe in God, believe also in Me.     Something is likely to go wrong, when you believe into an object you do not know, whether it be a person, place or thing.  What is it? Well to believe in a thing is to trust in it, the same as relying on it, and that is equal to depending on that thing.
