A nine year boy by the name of Milo Cress did a study on straws and apparently determined plastic straws are destroying the planet and we need to ban all plastic straws NOW!

The really scary part is how many "grown-ups" including our elected public servants IMMEDIATELY jumped on the anti-plastic straws bandwagon.  They literally pass public policy to ban plastic straws, Ok. First off, how valid is the 500 million plastic straws figure?  How did the 9 year old come up with this number.  For the sake of discussion....assume there is any validty to the clam of 500 million plastic straws are used everyday by Americans, OK.....BUTT what about all of the plastic water bottles these elected public servants have in their offices or the many single use plastics that are out there???.

I think we can agree plastic straws just like other plastics are not the best for the envirionment.  But for public officials to make public policy against plastic straws while ignoring the much bigger issue of the single use plastic water bottles that are right in front of their faces and all the other plastic items in their shop (i.e. platic pens and other freebies they give away), is just plain NUTZZZZ!

Did they take the time to investigate this 9 year old's "straw study"?  Did they compare 100 plastic straws to 100 single use plastic water bottles?

If you want to reduce plastics, why not start with the single use plastic water bottle?!?!?

How can we have faith in our elected public servants when they do SILLY things like this?!?!?.
